Update 2020 week 11 - several sections partially completed

Image
Since last post I've partially completed several sections. Partially is because I haven't painted the interior yet. But the paint should show up during next week, and hopefully I should be able to paint next weekend. Then the rudder and brakes section (33) can be completed. I've changed my min on the interior color and is now going for Battle Ship grey (still from Stewart Systems ). I already had a pint of it, and after doing some tests I decided for that instead. I'm also waiting for a alignment template from Vans aircraft. It originally comes with the wing kit. This template is used on several occasion during the build. For example on the flap actuation system. Vans told it was no problem to build the fuselage before the wing, and that is true, but you must order the W-00026 Alignment Template. All panels, from section 42, in the cockpit are now painted. The seat backs are also painted. Below follows some pictures in historical order. Trial fit of the instr...

Baggage area, brake and rudder system

Image
The baggage area is now complete, except that I've postponed riveting the 4 side plates because I need more insulation and that I'll create attachment for oxygen on the left side. So I've started on section 33 Rudder and Brake System. I'm going to paint the interior, so I'll not mount anything in the fuselage until that is done. But there are plenty of thing to do in parts fabrication for both section 33 and the following sections (34 Flap Actuation System, 35 Upper fwd fuselage, 36 Aileron and Elevator system).  I have got interior leather samples from Lemke Autosattlerei & Möbelpolsterei , and are awaiting a few more. The interiors color I've selected is Dawn Patrol Gray from Stewart Systems . But I don't feel I a have found a matching leather. Before the flap motor channel. This is the flap motor channel. I've put insulation in between the ribs. It's the 1" Super Sound Proofing . It's to thick to stay in...

Section 32 baggage area and center console

Image
I've started on the baggage area and has got the flap bushing in and deburred, prepared and test fitted all parts. Next is priming. Everything just fits perfectly. Nice kit! Center console I've purchased a center console box from Aircraft Extras . It will be placed in front of the flap motor cover. But that is not before section 42. This is were it will be installed

Section 31 Fuel system completed

Image
I've cheated a bit on this section as I had bought the fuel lines pre-fabricated from Aircraft Speciality (TS Flighlines)  (I have bought the whole cabin package with brake lines as well). It took me less than 10 hours to complete. The rigid lines more or less snapped in. I only had to do some minor adjustments.

Rotisserie

I decided to put the fuselage on a rotisserie for easier access. I used two of these engine stands   https://www.biltema.no/bil---mc/verkstedsutstyr/lofteutstyr/motorstativ/motorstativ-2000040000
