Update 2020 week 11 - several sections partially completed
Since last post I've partially completed several sections. Partially is because I haven't painted the interior yet. But the paint should show up during next week, and hopefully I should be able to paint next weekend. Then the rudder and brakes section (33) can be completed.
I've changed my min on the interior color and is now going for Battle Ship grey (still from Stewart Systems). I already had a pint of it, and after doing some tests I decided for that instead.
I'm also waiting for a alignment template from Vans aircraft. It originally comes with the wing kit. This template is used on several occasion during the build. For example on the flap actuation system. Vans told it was no problem to build the fuselage before the wing, and that is true, but you must order the W-00026 Alignment Template.
All panels, from section 42, in the cockpit are now painted. The seat backs are also painted.
Below follows some pictures in historical order.

Trial fit of the instrument panel structure. Section 35 upper fwd fuselage. |
I bought the power module from Vans and intent to use it as a base for the canopy release. I have to move the canopy release done there to get enough space for instrument. |
Trial fit of the flap motor cover and the center console (an option from Aircraft Extras) |
The flap motor cover finished. |
I had to make 2 backing plates (0.063") for GA-35 (GTN 650) and GA-57X (G3X) GNSS antennas. PS! This is not were they got installed, as the manual recommends at least 12" between two GPS antennas. |
Ready to rivet the two GNSS antennas backing plates. Notice that they are shifted to get the required CC distance of 12". (Right is forward) |
Filling in isolation before riveting the baggage panels. |
This the backing plate for the oxygen system brackets. |
Oxygen backing plate with nut plates riveted. |
Riveting the baggage panels. |
The completed center console. It will be covered with material of same type as the rest of the cockpit. |
Closed. |
The upper fwd section comes together. |
Counter sinking for all the nut plates. |
This is the remaining part from section 35 plus seat back from section 42 ready for etching and priming. |
Trial fit of the cover plates after paint (bathe ship grey) |
Seat back in place. (They are now painted) |
The canopy release mechanism in place. |
This the two leather colors that I have selected for the interior. Only 95% sure for now - and will make the final decision after the interior i painted. |
