Section 26 MID FUSE LOWER STRUCTURE

Image
Got started on section 26 this weekend. There seems to be a lot of parts, and I will not follow the instruction sequentially. It's better to prepare all parts and get them primed. It's good to have the instructions in PDF so I can search for the different parts number as start deburring. If they for example needs countersinking or match drilling, I'll do that at the same time as the deburring. Section 26 covers the area from the aft fuselage to the center section. That means baggage and seating area. Quite a lot of parts picked. Next is to remove the plastic. Working on separation and deburring of the small parts. The intentions is to the divide the priming into two. One with small parts and then all the ribs (20+). Just a lot of tedious work, but I hope all small parts should be ready for priming tomorrow. Then priming on Tuesday.

Section 25 completed

Image
Today section 25 was completed on approx 28 hours. All parts scuffed, cleaned and ready for priming. Finished. The aft bulkhead (F-01405A). Ready to rivet the side channels to the aft bulkhead. I almost made a mistake here as I initially had attached the bulkhead upside down. But I noticed because some rivets then would have been impossible to set. The bulkhead bar is bolted on. This is the aft bulkhead (F-01404) of the two center section bulkheads. And this is the forward center section bulkhead (F-01403). This is the area were the controls stick will be.

Inventory completed and section 25 "forward mid fuselage bulkheads" started

Image
I completed the inventory process yesterday and found only 3 small errors. One nut missing, a small bag of rivets and I got two right sides of a pair of engine mount brackets. That's impressive with so many parts. Engine mount and under carriage. Section 25 I've started on the first fuselage section. As usual it starts with a lot of deburring and preparation of parts. A few pictures follows below. This is what section 25 consist of. Picking required parts for section 25. I'm glad I made a "storage system" during inventory, and noted the location on the packing lists (21 pages). Countersinking and nutplate riveting. This is one of the two main bulkheads where the wings is mounted to. The second is behind.

Fuselage and finish kit arrived

Image
Today the fuselage and finish kit arrived. The journey started 26. July and finally arrived today 13th September. So shipping time has to be taken into account when planning ahead. I observed only a few minor damages to the crates, but nothing that seems to have damaged the parts inside. The finish kit crate. The fuselage crate. Inside the fuselage crate

Empennage completed

Image
Then the tail cone is finished and thereby the the whole empennage can be declared as completed as far as possible at this time. Sadly the fuselage and finishing kit will not arrive in another 2-3 weeks. Wires, heath shrinks, sleeving and solder sleeves came in from Prowire USA. This is how the shrink labels will look like on the wire I made this tool for wire cutting. Worked great. All wiring and system routing completed. Close up of the left static port and wiring from the tail. This is how I made the platform for the bucking helper. Happy wife😁 got to help me. Just a few more rivets to go.  All done😀 I decided to redo the elevator trim cable (the on supplied by Vans) from the tail to the elevator. Basically because I use cold plated pins on the one on the fuselage. The container is now complete with ventilation for priming. All empennage parts stored in the container.
