Section 22 Aileron completed

Image
Aileron is completed, and total time used ended in 42 hours. Nothing particular difficult other than avoiding twist. I'm happy with the result. Next now is to rivet on the lower wing skin.

Aircraft Specialty FWF and wing root filter kit arrived

Image
The FWF hose kit was shipped on 24th december by USPS but did never arrived. So Aircraft Specialty produced new parts for me. I then took the opportunity to order the wing root filter enhancement also.  I also got the U-1024 spacer, Wing Vent Rigid Tube and Firewall Forward Sniffle Lines. All RV-14 enhancement kits from Aircraft Specialty is listed here . It was all shipped by UPS on Friday and arrived today!  That's the weekend plus one day only. This is in fact the second time a shipment from USPS has gone missing for me. They must be having real troubles. This is how the wing root filter is installed.  One on each side.

Flaps completed

The flaps was completed today. Total hours used ended on 52. Left side test fitted. Twist is checked with a digital lever on the two hinge brackets. I was not able to get the relative angle to less than 0.2 degree.

Engine, propeller and firewal forward

Image
The engine and propeller was ordered first week of february. I did go for the Thunderbolt  YIO-390-EXP119. This is the new engine configuration from Vans. See this link . I decided to go for PMAG ignition and selected to get it painted in red. I got an confirmation from Lycoming on 12th february. Estimated lead time is 6 months now. That means sometime around mid August - but it will be shipped via Vans. So I don't expect delivery before October/November, and that fits well. Because I already have the finish kit, I had to order an upgrade kit and that is already received as part of the firewall forward kit. The propeller is the standard Hartzell HC-M2YR-1BFP/F7497 74". The firewall forward, together with the finish kit upgrade to EXP119, arrived yesterday. Many parts was  backordered, but I did also delete the exhaust system, spinner parts and the new lower cowling myself. The reason was mostly to save freight. They will be shipped together with the engine and propeller. ...
