Tosten CS-8 stick grip installation

Image
I decided to spend some time to fit and wire the Tosten CS-8 stick grip. The standard Vans stick has to be cut approx. 3.25 inches (info from Tosten). I so did, but it will still interfere wit the panel when fully forward and centered. So I decided to cut it shorter - but haven't done yet. Hopefully I'll be able to get another 0.5-1.0 inch, but it might be it difficult as the bushing will interfere with the bend in the pipe. The grip will hit the switches in full forward position.   It was a bit tricky to get wires out of the hole.

Fuel tank in progress and 2 year anniversary

Image
Approx. 1400 hours and 2 years of building has passed. Outboard leading edges Both outboard leading edges is now attached to the wings. Right side ready for rivets. Both done Fuel tanks (Section 18) The fuel tank is much like the outboard leading edge, but the riveting is much more complex as it will be sealed. For now I'm almost ready preparing all parts (deburring, fluting, countersinking and dimpling). The sealant will arrive form Vans Aircraft in a few days. Preparation of parts. Right tank clecoed together. A lot of holes to dimple on the skin😓

Landing light and wings section 17 Top Wing Skin

Image
Today the top wing skin section was completed.  Since last post I've also prepared the landing light but run into problem when doing the landing light lens. The acrylic cracked, so new ones is ordered. The wing rear spar (section 15) i also completed (mandatory before riveting the top skin). Next now will be to attach the outboard leading edge. Details of the joint between the inner and outer skin. Some material is removed on the forward part, to get a more flush transition from the fuel tank skin. It's difficult, if not impossible, to do the riveting without a helper.   The rear spar are clecoed in place, and ready to be riveted. More from Steinar The wing autopilot servo, pitot heat with the mast, nav antenna, som connectors, and the sticks arrived from Steinar. I then have everything to complete the wing wiring and pitot static. Landing lights As mentioned the landing light lenses cracked during drilling and also countersinking. I didn't any such problem on the canopy,...
